Frequently asked questions

Common questions from planners, project controls managers and engineering leads evaluating Sensali.

Short answer

Sensali reads a Navisworks NWD plant model plus the project's engineering data, standardises it into one equipment inventory, assigns items to process areas at 98.8% measured accuracy, applies construction sequencing methodology and exports a Primavera P6 XER file with activities, relationships and resources. It is built for oil & gas, LNG and industrial gas EPC projects, operates under NDA, and never reuses one customer's project data for another.

Product

What does Sensali do?

Sensali is an installation planning engine. It generates a Primavera P6 construction schedule directly from a Navisworks 3D plant model and the project's engineering data, covering geometry extraction, data standardisation, process area detection, construction sequencing and P6 XER export.

What file does it take as input?

A Navisworks NWD model, together with the project engineering spreadsheets and available cost and schedule data used to cross-validate the equipment inventory.

What does it output?

A Primavera P6 XER file containing activities, predecessor and successor relationships and resources, ready to import into P6. Details on the XER export page.

Which disciplines are covered?

Structural steel, piping, electrical and instrumentation, alongside the mechanical equipment sequenced per unit through erection and grouting.

Is this 4D BIM?

No. 4D tools attach an existing schedule to model geometry for visualisation. Sensali produces the schedule from the model. A generated schedule can then be linked back into a 4D simulation.

Accuracy and validation

How accurate is the process area detection?

98.8% measured accuracy on the models processed so far, using model containment and connectivity data combined with the project engineering documentation.

How much has been processed to date?

Four full facility models have been run end to end through one combined pipeline, producing 220 construction activities, 190 predecessor and successor relationships and 264,101.9 calculated engineering hours.

Where do durations and crew sizes come from?

From the project's own engineering and staffing data, applied at a 1:1 basis rather than estimated or generated.

Can a planner change the result?

Yes. The export is a starting network inside Primavera P6. Planners schedule, adjust calendars and resources, and baseline it like any other project.

Approach

Is this just a large language model writing a schedule?

No. Construction methodology is encoded as explicit rules applied against real geometry, hierarchy, containment and connectivity, so every dependency traces back to a physical fact about the plant. See construction sequencing automation.

Will two runs on the same model give the same schedule?

Yes. The sequencing rules are deterministic and applied identically across the whole model, unlike two planners sequencing the same scope by hand.

What happens when the model is revised?

The revised model is reprocessed through the same pipeline instead of the schedule being reworked activity by activity.

Data handling

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. An NDA is available before any model or project data is shared.

Is project data reused between customers?

No. Customer project data stays confidential and is used only for that customer's work.

Can it run inside our environment?

Enterprise deployment is supported, including customer-controlled environments.

Working together

How do teams start?

We are working with a small number of EPC and project controls teams as design partners. The usual starting point is running Sensali against a completed project so the generated sequence can be compared with what was actually built.

Where is Sensali based?

Perth, Western Australia, working with EPC contractors and owner's engineering teams globally.
